Engines in the Dark
“I took one dose of the Shine, and everything took on a golden glow. I felt better than I’d ever felt my whole life. My feet barely touched the ground… and then I was out.” – Anonymous
An illicit drug used by a variety of foolish Citizens of the Aethir Empire. It appears as a finely ground, shimmering golden dust
It has been reported to cause:
- A feeling of euphoria
- An accelerated awareness.
- The ability to see in the dark.
- A rush of energy followed by comatose levitation.
- Vibrant shine-dreams.
Shine is surely addictive, even after just one dose. Addicts can be found in most dark corners of The Block, and be recognized by the a variety of symptoms:
- Dull, whitish eyes.
- Loose teeth.
- Dark rings over the eyes.
- Slow movements and lethargy.
They are often “shored up”; tied to something while they sleep off their shine-dreams.
While reports vary, most agree that an overdose of Shine results in glowing eyes, levitation, and even spontaneous combustion.
